How each one works
Sliding doors glide panels past each other along tracks; typically part of the opening slides away while large panes of glass stay in place. Bi-fold doors are hinged panels that concertina and fold back to one or both sides, opening up almost the entire aperture.
Views vs opening width
Sliders give the best views when closed — fewer, wider panes mean slimmer frames and more uninterrupted glass — and a generous opening, though usually not the whole width. Bi-folds open up nearly the full aperture for a true indoor-outdoor connection, but show more frames across the glass when closed because of the folding panels.
Space, threshold and use
Bi-folds need somewhere for the folded panels to stack, inside or out; sliders need no stacking space as panels slide behind each other. Both can have low or flush thresholds for level access to a terrace. Think about how often you'll open it fully versus enjoy the view closed.
How we supply them
We supply both sliding and bi-fold systems, made to measure in aluminium for slim frames and large openings, with the glazing specified for the Cyprus climate. Tell us the opening and how you want to use it and we'll advise and quote.
Common questions
Which is better, sliding or bi-fold doors?
Sliding doors give the best uninterrupted views and slim frames when closed, with a wide (not full) opening; bi-folds open up almost the entire aperture for the strongest indoor-outdoor link but show more frames when closed. It depends on whether you value the view or the full opening.
Do bi-fold doors need stacking space?
Yes — the panels fold and stack to one or both sides, inside or out, so you need room for them to sit. Sliding doors don't stack; panels slide behind each other, which can suit tighter spaces.
Can sliding and bi-fold doors have level thresholds?
Both can be made with low or flush thresholds for near-level access between inside and a terrace, which also helps accessibility. We specify the threshold detail for the project.
What material are your sliding and bi-fold doors?
We supply them in aluminium for its strength, slim sightlines and large-opening capability, with glazing specified for sun, heat and coastal exposure. Made to measure to your opening.
