Fitted vs freestanding
A fitted wardrobe is built into the room, floor to ceiling and wall to wall, so it uses awkward corners, sloping ceilings and the full height that freestanding furniture wastes. It is made to measure, so the interior is tailored to what you store; freestanding furniture is cheaper and movable but rarely uses the space as efficiently.
Plan the interior around what you store
Start from your clothes and belongings: how much hanging space, long and short; how many drawers; shelves for folded items; shoe storage and accessories. A good split of hanging, drawers and shelving — with the right rail heights — is what makes a wardrobe genuinely useful. Internal lighting and pull-out rails add convenience.
Doors: hinged vs sliding
Hinged doors give full access to the whole interior and a classic look but need swing space in front. Sliding doors save floor space and suit tight rooms and large runs, with a more contemporary feel. The right choice depends on the room and the space in front of the wardrobe.
Finishes and how we supply
Fronts can be matched to the room — painted colours, wood tones, glass or mirror — and coordinated with the doors and joinery elsewhere in the home. Everything is made to measure to your space and layout. Share the room dimensions and what you need to store, and we'll plan and quote it.
Common questions
Are fitted wardrobes worth it?
If you want to use the full height and awkward spaces of a room, and storage tailored to what you own, fitted wardrobes make much better use of space than freestanding furniture. They are made to measure, so they fit exactly.
Should I choose sliding or hinged wardrobe doors?
Sliding doors save floor space and suit tight rooms and long runs; hinged doors give full access to the interior and a more classic look but need clearance to swing. It depends on the room — we'll advise.
Can you match wardrobes to the bedroom doors and other joinery?
Yes. Because everything is made to order, we can carry a finish, colour or handle across the wardrobes, the doors and other cabinetry so the room reads as one design.
What do you need to quote a fitted wardrobe?
The room dimensions, including ceiling height and any slopes or obstructions; a sense of the interior layout you want; and the finish direction. We'll plan the interior and quote it made to measure.
